A Knight To Remember...
May 26th, a date I will never forget. My great and long weekend started with a great event.
Prom finally was here, and the seniors of Mount Vernon High School were ready to slay at prom.
I woke up early, so I could go to get my hair done. After that, I got to run to get home on time, so I could do my make-up and get ready for prom.
At 3:15pm I was ready. Maybe I wasn't going to slay or be as beautiful as the other girls, but at least, I tried.
Before I left home, I checked that I had all what I needed and my host sister took some pictures of me with my dress, so I would send them to my family and friends back in Spain and Mount Vernon. Once we were done with the photoshoot, I went to the City Hall.
The City Hall was full of students from my school and they all looked awesome! Some of the outfits were speechless!
We left the City Hall an hour late (because everybody wanted pictures with the seniors), and as a consequence, we arrived in Jersey Shore kind late too.
Our prom took place at "The Imperia", a fancy and beautiful place for proms, weddings, etc.
The first thing we did, was to sign our names and get our Prom Gift, which was a beautiful glass.
Later, we moved to a big room, with several tables for dinner, a dance floor and a podium for the DJ. Being in that room seemed like being on a wedding.
We had dinner (Italian and Jamaican food), later dessert (ice cream and several toppings), and to close the great night, we danced, took pictures and enjoyed the time with our friends and classmates.
But prom got to its end, and I got to come back home...
I went to bed late, but I woke up knowing that Friday was about to be lit too. I left home with my host sisters at 4pm and we started our journey to the New York Mets Citi Field in Queens.
My first baseball game!!! I was soo excited I could feel how my heart beat was speeding up. To my surprise, the game was really interesting and I felt like part of the fans. And the best thing? The Mets won the game against its biggest enemy: the LA Dodgers.
And without noticing it, it was saturday. That day I went out for dinner to a Japanese Steak House with my family. It was a surprise for my mom, because her birthday was coming soon, so my father decided to go there, sing her the "Happy Birthday" song and celebrate it with cheese cake.
Later, it was Sunday and I got another family afternoon, this time, we spent the afternoon at the movies, watching X-MEN and because it was really hot, we drank some milkshakes at Five Guys.
The end of the big weekend came with Memorial Day. It was my first Memorial Day in the United States, and I didn't have a BBQ. Instead of it, my mom made a delicious dinner and I spent the time I got left by reading a new book I had just bought.
That was my Memorial Weekend, and now I know I only have a month left, so I'm trying to enjoy it as much as I can.
My life has changed since I moved here, and I know it won't be the same I got before I came.
And that's all for today! You will hear from me soon.
Love always,
Nereu
