Special American Cuisine: How to make Apple Pie

~ Good apple pies are a considerable part of our domestic happiness ~

Hey guys!

Summer is almost over, which means, Fall season is coming and with it, all those recipes that include apples and pumpkins. So today, I bring you a typical American recipe that you cannot miss during fall: Apple Pie!

A little bit of history:

Apple pies were originally brought to the States by the European during the 17th and 18th centuries. The American natives had to wait until apples were brought from Europe, because by that time, they did not have appletrees in the States, so they could not grow their own apples and their pies were made with meat instead of fruit. Nowadays, apple pies are known as one of a number of American culture icons and you can bake this delicious dessert in so many different ways. Also, there are other kinds of pies, such us pumpkin, cherry or sweet potatoes pie.

INGREDIENTS*:

- 1 whole sheet puffed pastry
- 1/2 cup (100gr) brown sugar
- juice of 1/2 a lemon
- 3 whole apples, cored, halved and sliced, not peeled
- nonstick spray or parchment paper
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)

STEPS:

1. Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C).

2. Place the puffed pastry onto a baking pan that has been sprayed with nonstick spray or lined with parchment paper.

3. Wash and cut the apples in slices, without peeling them.

4. Mix the brown sugar and the lemon juice in a bowl. After that, add the apple slices and stir to combine. Allow to sit for a few minutes.

5. Arrange the apple slices on the pastry in straight lines, overlapping them as you go.

6. Place another puffed pastry on top of the apple slices and trim the edges, so the apples cannot escape while baking. Add some sugar at the top if desired.

7. Bake until the pastry is puffed and golden brown, about 20-30 minutes.

8. Remove from the pan immediately and place on a serving platter. Let it cool for 10 minutes. You can serve it with cinnamon, chopped pecans, ice cream, etc
